Is InstaText only suitable for non-native speakers or can native speakers also benefit from it?
InstaText was originally developed as an “editing assistant” to help non-native English speakers write more like native speakers. While many of our users are non-native speakers, we also have many native speakers who use InstaText extensively to enhance their writing.
The reason for this is that being a native English speaker does not necessarily mean that you are naturally a good writer. Writing, like any other skill, is something you develop over time through practice.
It’s true that native speakers have an advantage over non-native speakers in terms of vocabulary size and familiarity with idioms, slang, and expressions that non-native speakers may not know. But there is more to writing than just putting words together in any language.
To create high-quality written content, you need to make sure that your text is polished in terms of clarity, coherence, correctness, and more.
So the better question to ask about InstaText would be: Who can benefit from it and how?
The answer is:
InstaText is useful for anyone who wants to improve their text in English, regardless of their language background. It is best suited for the editing phase of the writing process, although it also proofreads texts.
InstaText improves your texts by enhancing clarity, readability, flow, structure, style, tone, conciseness, word choice, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and more during the editing and proofreading process.
InstaText is also ideal for those creating content for contexts with strict authorship and originality criteria where the use of AI is prohibited or restricted, such as academic texts. It’s because InstaText uses advanced language technologies, but not generative AI. This means that, unlike ChatGPT, for example, it does not generate content, but improves existing content.
Another indirect advantage of InstaText is that it makes suggestions that you can accept or reject. Since the changes made to your text are easily recognizable, you can improve your writing skills over time by paying attention to InstaText’s suggestions.
I have been using instaText for over a year. In that time, I have worked mostly in academia, on my doctoral thesis, a dozen papers, and, to a lesser extent, private correspondence. I have to admit that instaText is superior to its competitors (I tested several), which mainly check grammar, punctuation, and spelling (instaText makes you sound like a very educated native speaker). Interestingly, instaText corrects a lot of the text written by my collaborators who are native English speakers! All in all, this software allows me to enjoy work and focus on WHAT I want to say without worrying about HOW I should say something 🙂
